Final bid 784 credits. This is the first card to go to Mississippi!
I really wanted to do this card in color. I think there were a lot of great possibilities and the separation of the areas would have been more effective. I need to learn how to make a good character that isn't flat without my handbag of tricks. I feel like I've gone back to the start of January. I'm trying to learn what to do with the inks since much of my regular graphite vocabulary isn't working. Hopefully I can figure it out before the end of the month. I'm glad these cards are not commissions. I don't have to stress over making anyone happy. I really like the insides of the wings and I feel like there is potential there. Maybe I can do one like the seahorse from January with no lines just dots. I'm wondering when the click will take place. When I'll really stop caring and make something fabulous. I'm looking forward to that day. I'm going to try tomorrow. Just start with a meditation on freeing my thoughts and see how that goes. I did a couple sketches at church. Ash said the one I liked more was scary and to do this one. I think her drawing was better. It consisted of a giant mouth with eyes on the teeth. Such uninhibited creativity. If I could just bottle that like a perfume I'd make a fortune.

Final bid 102 credits. This card is going to Tennessee. Name "Gongzhu of the West" A daughter of a noble family, she was a kind girl who loves the outdoors and had a pet snake named Cori. She was Born right after the Yuan Dynasty fell in 1368 and her family gain high social level. She had bright green eyes and long black hair, she was a beauty. One day her pet snake left the grounds and she followed him to the village below where she met Ayda. Gongzhu fell in love with a Ayda who was unknown to her her half brother. When her father found out he cursed her to live forever in this current form. She cannot die and forever dreams of seeing Ayda once more. She has continued living with the offspring of her pet Cori. I'm feeling quite sick today. I slept most of yesterday and then most of this morning as well. I had one short appointment that I refused to miss to get my cross tattoo retouched. This was my last opportunity to have it done before the move. With the shop right down the street it seemed crazy to reschedule and then drive 3.5 hrs to try to get it done on a different day. My friend Linda came over to watch the kids. I went to the apt at 2:00 to find out it was actually at 3:00. So I had enough time to come home and grab my drawing items. This was inspired by a drawing/painting that was on the wall of the parlor and this was my creation. It's almost as if it has a female version of the guy fox mask on. Not intentionally just worked out that way. Perhaps all the roughness in the neck is my cold showing up in the drawing. To Ash anything with spots means it's sick.
While I was inking in this card Ash wanted to make a couple drawing to post on line as well. She said she wanted to win some points so she could win me a surprise. She is such a sweet heart. These drawing below are up for auction per her request. They are on 8x10 inch card stock. I am going to cut out some ATC size paper for her to work on next time that way I can mail it the same as my cards. The drawing below is one monster with a family on it's shirt :) First drawing by Ashley's final bid was 656 credits! This card was won by her grandmother here in Oregon. After that we have a picture of Ash with her second drawing. It is two conjoined monsters riding on a bike. Final bid for the second drawing was 77 credits. This drawing was mailed to California. Final bid 4041 credits. Was the top score for a while! This card is going to Minnesota. This is the dog of Bugaboo Jr from February Creature Cards. Ashley was commissioned to draw this dog a house. It's epic! I actually dreamed about drawing this card. In particularly the stripes on the legs and the shoes on a dog. Now when I look at it it's almost like the stripes you find on socks. Yes this dog only has two legs. I was able to get the drawing done before I had a mid morning crash and had to rest. My cold has progressed to be sniffly nose and plugged ears along with the throat and cough. Maybe this little guy is living in my throat. All tickly.
I used the scheduling perk on Listia to schedule my auctions for the next week or so. That way they come live even if I'm not online and able to post the picture. Then I can update them when I get the image ready to post. Hopefully I won't have any up for long with the "What could it be" image, but at least the auctions will be on the same day the cards are. It will be a tricky week juggling everything. I'm going to try to have fun with it and just see how it goes. I might end up behind on the blogs but My goal is to keep up with the cards and auctions, God willing, and catch up after that. Final bid 1380 credits. This card will live in Wisconsin.
So I started ink today. I also had a migraine that pretty much killed my whole day. In addition to that I am sick with a cold that is centered in my throat and ears. I was just about to write how the conditions I don't like translated into a card I didn't like, when I realized the card could be revered. I like it much more now that it has multiple options and that I didn't mean for it to :) I'm also feeling better thanks to one of my card winners on Listia who caught the card before I pulled it down to adjust it into a reversible card. He was going to say how much he liked it and that made me feel much better. So thank you to csa3053 for the encouragement! Ink is hard for me since it's not erasable. The lines get thicker and thicker as I try to keep them smooth and straight. It gets blocky and chunky at places I didn't intend it to. I see everything that I didn't want to do but had to work with. In art school we were told not to mention these points since the audience won't know all that... but for the sake of honest blogging on my first ink card you get to hear it. Trying to draw straight with a headache is not easy at all. So perhaps to think positively considering the day it's pretty good after all. |
